Heinrich Schütz: "Domine, non est exaltatum cor meum," SWV 78-80 - Cantiones Sacrae

Psalm 131

Domine, non est exaltatum cor meum
Neque elati sunt oculi mei.
Neque ambulavi in magnis
Neque in mirabilibus super me.

Si non humiliter sentiebam
Sed exaltavi animam meam
Sicut ablactatus est super matrem suam
Ita retributio in anima mea.

Speret Israel in Domino
Ex hoc nunc et usque in saeculum.

O Lord, my heart is not exalted,
nor are my eyes raised too high.
I do not occupy myself with great matters,
or with things that are too marvelous for me.

But I still my soul
and make it quiet
like a child upon its mother's breast;
my soul is quieted within me.

O Israel, wait upon the Lord
from this time forth forevermore.
