Cantata for the Election of the Town Council
1. Chor Ihr Pforten zu Zion, ihr Wohnungen Jakobs, freuet euch! Gott ist unsers Herzens Freude, Wir sind Völker seiner Weide, Ewig ist sein Königreich.	1. Chorus You gates of Zion, you dwellings of Jacob, rejoice! God is the delight of our hearts, we are the people of his flock, His kingdom is eternal.
2. Rezitativ S Der Hüter Israels entschläft noch schlummert nicht; Es ist annoch sein Angesicht Der Schatten unserer rechten Hand; Und das gesamte Land Hat sein Gewächs im Überfluß gegeben. Wer kann dich, Herr, genug davor erheben?	2. Recitative S The Guardian of Israel neither sleeps nor slumbers; His countenance is even now the shadow over our right hand; and to the entire land He has given His harvest in abundance. Who therefore, Lord, can exalt You enough?
3. Arie S Gott, wir danken deiner Güte, Denn dein väterlich Gemüte Währet ewig für und für. Du vergibst das Übertreten, Du erhörest, wenn wir beten, Drum kömmt alles Fleisch zu dir.	3. Aria S God, we thank Your goodness, since Your fatherly spirit endures for ever and ever. You forgive the trespass, You listen, when we pray, therefore all flesh comes to You.
4. Rezitativ A O Leipziger Jerusalem, vergnüge dich an deinem Feste! Der Fried ist noch in deinen Mauern, Es stehn annoch die Stühle zum Gericht, Und die Gerechtigkeit bewohnet die Paläste. Ach bitte, daß dein Ruhm und Licht Also beständig möge dauern!	4. Recitative A O Jerusalem of Leipzig, delight in your festival! Peace is still within your walls, the thrones still stand for justice, and righteousness inhabits the palaces. Ah, we ask that Your glory and light might thus continually last!
5. Arie A Sende, Herr, den Segen ein, Laß dei wachsen und erhalten, Die vor dich das Recht verwalten Und ein Schutz der Armen sein! Sende, Herr, den Segen ein!	5. Aria A Send down, Lord, Your blessing, make them prosper and sustain them, who administer justice before You and are the protectors of the poor! Send down, Lord, Your blessing!
