2. Arie B Tritt auf die Glaubensbahn, Gott hat den Stein geleget, Der Zion hält und träget, Mensch, stoße dich nicht dran! Tritt auf die Glaubensbahn!	2. Aria B Step upon the path of faith, God has laid the flagstone which supports and bears Zion, human, do not stumble upon it! Step upon the path of faith!
3. Rezitativ B Der Heiland ist gesetzt In Israel zum Fall und Auferstehen. Der edle Stein ist sonder Schuld, Wenn sich die böse Welt So hart an ihm verletzt, Ja, über ihn zur Höllen fällt, Weil sie boshaftig an ihn rennet Und Gottes Huld Und Gnade nicht erkennet! Doch selig ist Ein auserwählter Christ, Der seinen Glaubensgrund auf diesen Eckstein leget, Weil er dadurch Heil und Erlösung findet.	3. Recitative B The Savior is destined in Israel for destruction and resurrection. The noble stone has no flaw; even if the evil world injures itself so sorely upon it, indeed, hurtles over it to hell, this is because it wickedly runs at it and God's grace and mercy will not recognize! Yet blessed is a chosen Christian, who grounds his faith upon this cornerstone, since through this he will find salvation and redemption.

Aria S Rock, superior to all gems, help, that at all times through faith I might place in You the foundation of my happiness and not injure myself upon You, Rock, superior to all gems!
5. Rezitativ B Es ärgre sich die kluge Welt, Daß Gottes Sohn Verläßt den hohen Ehrenthron, Daß er in Fleisch und Blut sich kleidet Und in der Menschheit leidet. Die größte Weisheit dieser Erden Muß vor des Höchsten Rat Zur größten Torheit werden. Was Gott beschlossen hat, Kann die Vernunft doch nicht ergründen; Die blinde Leiterin verführt die geistlich Blinden.	5. Recitative B The clever world is annoyed, since God's Son has left His exalted throne of honor, since He has clothed Himself in flesh and blood and suffers in human form. The greatest wisdom of this earth must, before the counsel of the Highest, become the greatest foolishness. What God has determined reason cannot possibly fathom; this blind guide misleads the spiritually blind.

Arie (Duett) - S (Seele), B (Jesus) Wie soll ich dich, Liebster der Seelen, umfassen? - Du mußt dich verleugenen und alles verlassen! - Wie soll ich erkennen das ewige Licht? - Erkenne mich gläubig und ärgre dich nicht! Komm, lehre mich, Heiland, die Erde verschmähen! - Komm, Seele, durch Leiden zur Freude zu gehen! - Ach, ziehe mich, Liebster, so folg ich dir nach! - Dir schenk ich die Krone nach Trübsal und Schmach. -	6. Aria (Duet) - S (Soul), B (Jesus) How shall I embrace You, lover of souls? - You must use self-denial and forsake everything! - How shall I recognize the eternal Light? - Know me in faith and do not be troubled! - Come, teach me, Savior, to despise the earth! - Come, soul, through sorrow go to joy! - Ah, lead me, beloved, I will follow You! - I will give you the crown after trouble and shame. -
