Johann Hermann Schein: "O Herr Jesu Christe"
(Israelsbrünnlein 1623)
This brief, gentle Schein motet is distinguished by the touching simplicity
of its text-setting. Unusual for his composer is the use of hocketing:
short interjections volleying between the two sopranos (and occasionally
the tenors) while the rest of the choir moves serenely below.
